Kathy Simcoe is an active member of the Georgia and Florida Bars.  Her practice focuses on civil litigation and trial practice in state and federal courts in the areas of medical malpractice defense, personal injury and wrongful death. She also has experience in criminal defense, federal antitrust law, arbitration of construction issues, and wills/probate law.

Education

Mrs. Simcoe attended the University of Florida and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration and Marketing. Immediately following college, Mrs. Simcoe attended the University of Florida College of Law where she received her J.D. degree.

Professional Experience

Mrs. Simcoe practiced law as a prosecutor for the Florida State Attorney's Office. During that time, she served as an Assistant State Attorney and Misdemeanor Division Chief, led police officer DUI training courses, and also practiced in the areas of juvenile and felony law. Later, Mrs. Simcoe established her own firm assisting other practitioners in all aspects of civil and criminal litigation, including trial preparation, motion hearings and oral argument.

In 2006, Mrs. Simcoe began practicing with Smith, Gambrell & Russell, LLP on a national multi-district litigation antitrust case developing theories of causation and liability in a commodities market manipulation case.

Mrs. Simcoe joined Commander + Pound, LLP in 2007. She currently defends medical malpractice claims and represents plaintiffs in personal injury litigation.

She is admitted to practice in the Superior Courts of Georgia, the Georgia Court of Appeals, the Supreme Court of Georgia, the United States District Court for the Northern District of Georgia, the United States District Court for the Southern District of Georgia and all Florida State Courts.

Legal and Community Associations

Mrs. Simcoe is a member of the American Bar Association, the Atlanta Bar Association, and the Georgia Association for Women Lawyers.  She regularly gives of her time through her pro bono work with the Atlanta Volunteer Lawyers Foundation and Stronghold Atlanta, a nonprofit that supports victims of domestic violence.
